1.0 PURPOSE
The purpose of this procedure is to establish written guidelines for Nitro Construction Services for the implementation of the requirements set forth in this procedure.

3.0 DEFINITIONS
3.1 Potable Water – water that meets the standards for drinking purposes of the State or local authority having jurisdiction, or water that meets the quality standards prescribed by the US EPA’s National Primary Drinking Water Regulations (40 CFR 141).
4.0 PROCEDURE
4.1 Potable Water
4.1.1 An adequate supply of potable water shall be provided in all places of employment.
4.1.2 Portable containers used to dispense drinking water shall be capable of being tightly closed and equipped with a tap. Water shall not be dipped from containers.
4.1.3 Any container used to dispense drinking water shall be clearly marked as to the nature of its contents and not used for any other purpose.
4.1.4 It is prohibited to utilize one cup as a common drinking cup.
4.1.5 Where single service cups are supplied, both a sanitary container for the unused cups and a receptacle for disposing of the used cups shall be provided.
4.2 Toilets at Construction Jobsites
4.2.1 Toilets shall be provided for employees according to the following table:
4.2.2 Under temporary field conditions, provisions shall be made to assure not less than one toilet facility is available.
4.2.3 Job sites not provided with sanitary sewer shall be provided with one of the following toilet facilities unless prohibited by local codes:
4.2.3.1 Privies (where their use will not contaminate ground or surface water)
4.2.3.2 Chemical toilets
4.2.3.3 Re-circulating toilets
4.2.3.4 Combustion toilets
4.2.4 The requirements for toilet facilities at construction sites shall not apply to mobile crews having transportation readily available to nearby toilet facilities.
4.3 Washing Facilities
4.3.1 Adequate washing facilities shall be provided for employees engaged in the application of paints, coatings, or in other operations where contaminants may be harmful to the employees. Such facilities shall be in near proximity of the worksite and shall be so equipped as to enable employees to remove such substances.
4.3.2 Washing facilities shall be maintained in a sanitary condition.
4.3.3 Lavatories shall be made available in all places of employment and shall be provided with hot and cold running water, or tepid running water.
4.3.4 Hand soap or similar cleansing agents shall be provided.
4.3.5 Individual hand towels or sections thereof, of cloth or paper, warm air blowers, or clean individual sections of continuous cloth toweling, convenient to the lavatories, shall be provided.
4.4 Showers
4.4.1 Whenever showers are required, by a standard, the showers shall be provided in accordance with the following requirements:
4.4.1.1 One shower shall be provided for every 10 employees of each sex, or numerical fraction thereof, who are required to shower during the same shift.
4.4.1.2 Body soap or other appropriate cleaning agents convenient to the showers shall be provided.
4.4.1.3 Showers shall be provided with hot and cold water feeding a common discharge line.
4.4.1.4 Employees who use showers shall be provided with individual clean towels.
4.5 Eating and Drinking Areas
4.5.1 No employee shall be allowed to consume food or beverages in a toilet room, nor in any area exposed to a toxic material.
4.6 Change Rooms
4.6.1 Whenever employees are required, by a standard, to wear protective clothing because of the possibility of contamination with toxic materials, change rooms equipped with storage facilities for street clothes and separate storage facilities for the protective clothing shall be provided
