6.2 PURPOSE
The purpose of this program is to establish and implement practices and procedures to ensure that Nitro Construction Services personnel are fit for duty/work where the project scope of work requires a fit for duty plan.
6.3 RESPONSIBILITY
It is the responsibility of the site manager/superintendent to implement the requirements of this procedure.

4.0 DEFINITIONS
4.1 Fit for Duty – Personnel is physically and psychologically able to perform the essential functions of the job.
5.0 PROCEDURE
5.1 Where the client requires a pre-employment physical and/or medical exam, the Project Manager shall ensure personnel receives such an exam(s) before beginning work.
5.2 Where required by the client, physicals, or medical exams are also required when changing into certain job functions and different environments.
5.3 The purpose of the pre-employment physical is to identify and allow the employer to manage pre-existing conditions, injuries, or illnesses, which may otherwise predispose personnel to further injury or illness. It also helps determine personnel are fit to work and are capable of performing their job functions.
5.4 The Project Manager, Site Supervisor, and/or Site Safety Rep shall monitor employee behavior and activities to ensure they are fit for duty. Where a person has been found or considered unfit for work, they should be removed from the task and their job duties reevaluated.

5.6 Employees are responsible for reporting to work physically and mentally fit to perform their job functions safely.
5.6.1 Employees must take responsibility for their safety and must not report to work in a condition that would endanger their safety or the safety of their fellow workers.
5.6.2 Employees must report all medications, including over-the-counter medications, to their Supervisor that they are taking that could impair their ability to perform work safely. (See Drug and Alcohol Abuse section in EHS Procedure #010).
5.6.3 Employees shall raise concerns to their Supervisor about coworker’s fitness for duty if necessary.
